The Augusta Regional SPCA proudly serves Augusta County, Staunton, Waynesboro, and surrounding Virginia areas with compassionate animal welfare services. From owner surrenders to pet cremation and interment, we ensure pets receive dignified care and families receive supportive guidance.
Owner Surrender Services
Due to limited staff, appointments are required for owner-released animals. Each surrendered pet is evaluated for health and temperament before entering our animal shelter adoption program.

🐾 Accepting owner surrenders Monday–Friday, by appointment
🐾 Serving Augusta County, Staunton, Waynesboro, and surrounding communities
🐾 Animals are assessed for well-being and suitability for adoption
🐾 Since 2011, stray animal intake has been handled by Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center in Lyndhurst, VA
In 2022, we cared for 403 animals, including 115 owner surrenders and 285 from rescue partners, leading to 345 dog adoptions and 27 cat adoptions.
Pet Cremation and Burial Services
While we no longer provide euthanasia services for owned pets (please contact your veterinarian), we continue to offer:
🐾 Pet Cremation Services: Dignified, professional care for your beloved pet’s remains.
🐾 Pet Burial Services: Interment available at our peaceful pet cemetery located on SPCA grounds.

Year-Round Adoption Services
Our shelter operates year-round, connecting adoptable dogs, cats, and rabbits with loving families. We provide:

🐾Spay/neuter services for every adopted pet
🐾Supportive adoption counseling for a smooth transition
Community Education & Outreach
The Augusta Regional SPCA is more than a shelter—we’re educators and advocates.

🐾 Partnering with community organizations to reduce pet overpopulation through our SPCA neuter clinic
