NOTICE:
In keeping with CDC recommendations regarding the spread of COVID-19, we are requiring appointments for visitation with adoptable animals. Appointments are one hour in length and limited to five appointments per hour.
Our staff covers the phone Monday through Friday from 9 am until 2 pm. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our staff is limited – we will respond to applications as quickly as possible. On weekends our staff members are at the shelter to care for the animals and are not able to answer the phones.
If you are interested in adopting an animal, please fill out an adoption application by downloading it HERE. Please email the completed form to: augustaregionalspca@yahoo.com and a staff member will be in touch. If your application is complete with all information required, the approval process is quicker!!! *NOTE* if you have already submitted an application within the past 60 days, you do not need to re-submit. Please call or email the shelter to express your interest in a particular animal for adoption.
Before you adopt
Proper pet care is a commitment for the life of that animal. A pet will require time, patience, love and financial support for the rest of his life. Here are some other important considerations for pet adoptions:
- If you have other pets, they must be up to date on their rabies vaccinations.
- If you have a pet or pets that you have adopted from us, they must be up to date on all vaccinations.
- If you live with other people, discuss your desire to adopt a pet with them before taking an animal home. This will help ensure a good match.
- If you rent, be sure your lease allows pets of the size and breed you are considering. Check for additional rent and deposits that may be needed.
- If you have other pets at home, be prepared to take extra time and patience when introducing the new companion. We recommend that you keep the new animal isolated from the others until you have had your new pet examined by your vet. Once the introduction is complete, make sure to give all pets lots of exercise, attention and love.
