Open your home. Change a life.
The Augusta Regional SPCA Foster Program gives shelter animals the chance to thrive outside the stressful kennel environment. By fostering a pet, you provide love, care, and stability that prepares them for successful adoption into a forever home.
🐾 Offers dogs, cats, and rabbits a safe, comfortable home environment
🐾 Helps pets learn essential skills for living with families
🐾 Gives shelter animals recovering from illness or injury time to heal
🐾 Expands our capacity to rescue more pets in need
Whether you can help for a weekend or several weeks, your support directly saves lives and makes adoptions easier for future families.
Take a shelter dog out for a day of fun—hiking, a park visit, or even a coffee shop stop. These adventures reduce stress, provide exercise, and teach pets social skills.
Host a foster dog overnight or for a weekend getaway. Short-term fostering lets pets relax in a home setting and gives us valuable insights into their behavior.
Provide care for animals recovering from surgery, illness, or injury. May include administering medication and monitoring recovery with guidance from our veterinary team.
Work with pets who need extra training or confidence-building. Ideal for experienced fosters willing to help dogs and cats overcome anxiety or behavioral challenges.
Complete the online foster application to help us understand your experience and match you with the right pet.
Learn the basics of fostering, including responsibilities, safety, and how to create a positive environment for your foster pet.
After watching, complete a short quiz to confirm readiness to foster.
Once your quiz is approved, our foster coordinator will reach out with next steps and help schedule your first foster outing.
